All Career Academy Online students will have an outstanding support team to help them navigate their online world. Based on a student’s needs and Individual learning plan, they may have support from a Special Education teacher, Speech Pathologist, High Ability Teacher, English Language Learner Specialist or a Literacy Interventionist. Any support that a student would receive during in-person instruction will still be available to them during online instruction.

Brett Harring
Coordinator of Homeschool Partnership, Online, and Blended Learning
My name is Brett Harring. I have an education degree from Hope College with a major in Learning Disabilities. I spent the first four years of my career working in Kindergarten through 5th Grade Resource Rooms near Grand Rapids, Michigan. I then spent the next 9 years teaching in Edwardsburg, MI. I taught 2nd grade Reading, Writing, and Math Interventions as well as doing math interventions at the high school and everything in between. I had been doing math interventions in the Career Academy Middle School for the next 4.5 years until I took over the online program in January of 2022. I coached soccer, on top of my teaching duties, for over a decade with various clubs and high school programs. Outside of school, I have a loving wife and 3 energetic children. I enjoy spending my time watching them with their various activities or making up some activities at home. Needless to say, I don’t have much downtime.
Andrew Reamer

Kaylie Johnson
Online English Teacher
My name is Kaylie Johnson and I’ve taught English in Career Academy’s Online Program since December of 2020. After earning my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Humanistic Studies from Saint Mary’s College, I decided to pursue my love of teaching. Having worked as a Writing Tutor for three years throughout college, I then spent time in Shanghai, China where I served as the Writing Program Director for Shuying Academy. During my year and a half with Shuying, I developed curriculum, taught writing workshops, and helped high school students apply to top universities worldwide. When I’m not excitedly discussing books or fun history facts with my students, I’m often found cheering on Notre Dame and traveling for concerts as a lifelong music-lover.

She will complete her certificate in biology in May 2023 and her MAT in biology in December 2023. She has five children; her oldest is 39 years old and her youngest is a 17-year-old junior at Career Academy. She has eight grandchildren with a new granddaughter expected in June. She spends her free time with her children, grandchildren, traveling and studying.
Evan Baker
Online Social Studies Teacher
My name is Evan Baker. I have a Political Science Degree from Virginia Tech. After college, I spent 5 years as a US Army Field Artillery officer at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. While there, I was responsible for the development and training of over 200 individual Soldiers. Since then, I’ve transitioned to the Indiana Army National Guard, and worked as a financial advisor. Earlier this year, I realized that the aspects of my previous jobs that I enjoyed most were always teaching new skills. Being able to present new information, and hopefully impart greater understanding. With that in mind, in November of this year, I joined Career Academy Online to teach Social Studies. Outside of school, I am an avid board and strategy game enthusiast, and I enjoy bringing those gamified aspects to teaching whenever I can.
